Acne affects so many teenagers and even adults that different skin care products are already being sold in the market and in skin clinics today. But, some people just cannot handle too much chemicals being applied to their faces and necks- either they are too sensitive or they’re just tired spending loads of money buying these products.

But why buy anti-acne products when you can prepare cheap but effective solutions yourself? Here are five things you could make at home to get rid of those stubborn acne. You could pick one natural acne remedy or use a combination.

1. Strawberry yogurt mask – Strawberries aren’t just excellent for eating. They can also be made into acne-fighting cream which can be applied like facial masks. One strawberry contains natural salicylic acid which prevents skin infection. To prepare, just mix crushed strawberries with plain yogurt and apply it onto skin like a regular mask. Leave it for about thirty minutes to an hour then rinse it off.

2. Oatmeal yogurt mask – Oatmeal is a fantastic natural acne remedy and an effective facial scrub. It cleanses the skin deep into its pores and unclogs them. To prepare it, simply mix the oatmeal with half a cup of fine yogurt. Gently massage the paste on your face and neck and leave it on for about thirty minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and pat it try with a soft absorbent towel.

3. Basil tea – Basil, a common garden vegetable, is another natural acne remedy which has been proven effective. To prepare, just dry some fresh basil leaves, chop them into strips and mix them into a cup of saturated tea. Seep it for 20 minutes. With a cotton ball, generously dab it on affected skin and leave it on for another 20 minutes.

4. Facial Lavender Steam – To cleanse face of clogs, pus and dirt, facial steam would be a way. This method, but, is too effective to be used in severe acne cases. To prepare, simply simmer one part of water to one or two parts of lavender. As the steam gently goes up, let the steam touch you face from a comfortable distance at a tolerable temperature. The lavender steam kills the germs and helps repair skin hurt. Do this for 15 minutes and gently pat your face dry.

5. Healthy Diet – To control oil in the skin, avoid oily, fatty and sweet foods. To fight infection, eat fruits and vegetable rich in Vitamins, especially Vitamin C. For skin repair, eat green and orange vegetables such as carrots, pumpkin and the like. For skin moisture and essential fatty acids, eat some nuts and seeds.
